Temples, temples everywhere. I believe we saw five temple sites on our journey this day. Each one was more and more grand. This ancient civilisation was truly remarkable. They had very strong beliefs and worked extremely hard to make sure their gods knew how much they worshipped them.

The hidden surprise:
We walked around this courtyard admiring all the structures. This temple had incredible detailing on each pillar. Just as we were getting ready to move on, these two old ladies sitting at the front of the temple told us in very broken English that we needed to see something. One got up and lead us to an opening in the wall. We had poked our heads in earlier but it was very dark so we didn't go in. The old women took me by the hand and dragged me into the dark abyss. Paul and Rita followed. The ground was uneven and you could not see anything. Her flashlight definitely needed new batteries. We clung to each other because we had no idea what was to come. She said "pictures?". It was so dark I didn't think my camera would work and I was just a little bit worried that the flash might reveal something lurking in the shadows. I took some shots. It was a very big space, we walked in a total circle and ended up back to where we started. I cannot imagine how it was originally created being that it was in total darkness. Maybe the roof was put on at the end? Who knows, but we were very happy to make it out of the darkness. The pictures revealed that the walls had a purple pigment on them. Apparently when these temples were originally created they were painted. This is one of the only areas that still had any pigment left. I guess I am glad that our guide took us into this place but that old lady really freaked us out.

Krishna Temple
At the entrance to each temple they erected a plaque that described what each temple may be representing. Beside this Krishna temple it said that it depicts a war scene with warriors carrying shields, spirited horses and elephants.

Lotus Mahal
We moved on to another temple site and came upon this spectacular building. The grounds were immaculate. As I said before, the temples just keep getting more and more breathtaking.
