Travelling in India:
As we set off on Thursday morning I knew I was in for some new firsts but I had no idea how crazy it is to drive in India and how I was leaving my life in the hands of Biri who drove us seven and a half hours to Badami in south/central India. Each village we came across had it's special challenges. You can not imagine the number of cars and scooters and people and huge pot holes and dogs and cows and pigs and oh yes, and elephant.

Cow Road Blocks

There are cows walking all over the road and also lounging almost in traffic. I am shocked they don't get hit.

So we set of on our journey on Thurday January 31 from Goa to Badami. Here some of the pictures of our trip.

More sacred cows.

We were dirving through this incredibly busy village and I saw this elephant hanging out on the side of the road begging for bananas. I am so happy I captured it, because no one in Canada would believe me.
Between the villages we saw vast expanses of forests and rice patty fields. There are so many people in the cities and then there were times where we saw only a few scooters.

One of the most amazing sights were these scooters with women in beautiful sari's sitting side saddle on the scooters, barley hanging on. I was hanging on to the handle in the car for dear life. I guess you get use to things.

It was madness. I was very happy when we arrived at our destination.
