Indian Bison; road side attraction

I feel very fortunate to have seen 11 tigers on our 4 safari's. Now realistically, they were probably the same tigers given that tigers are very territorial and we only saw tigers around Andhari lake. What ever the case may be, I saw 11 tigers. The sign on the gate leading in to the reserve was absolutely correct, this is "the real land of the tigers". If you are travelling to India and want to see tigers, I suggest a visit to Tadoba. One of the last animals that we encountered was the majestic Indian Bison. We were travelling  along and came upon a small herd of these unique Bison that looked like they had white socks on. They were hanging out beside the road. Throughout our safari experience I came to realise that it was important to have a good driver and Tadoba guide. When we saw the bison, Ganesh slowed the jeep and inched closer. We were able to have several minutes studying these beautiful animal. Shortly after we arrived another vehicle came storming up and the bison quickly escaped into the jungle. We gave the evil eye to the occupants in that jeep. I think we had as many sighting as we did because of our great team.

Indian Bison

It was nice to see that the herd had babies and the species was thriving in the Tadoba Reserve.

Beautiful beasts

I couldn't get over the mahogany colouring of these bison. It wasn't until I looked closely at my pictures that I realised that the tips of their horns looks blue. I also wondered why they looked like they had white socks on. What evolutionary change  if any caused this to happen?
