Dangerous Decisions

Our first day of safari's ended with lots of drama. Just after we witnessed our tigress emerge from the brush, across the lake another tigress appeared. Maybe she heard her sisters call. She sat on the road directly in front of some lucky tourists. We watched her get up and walk down to the lake for a drink. When she moved to the lake the people in the truck could not see her because of the tall grass but we could. To try and get a better look, one man stood on the hood of the truck and two others exited the truck and stood on the road. Our guide was furious. He told us that he new the guide in charge of that truck and that he should know better. It is a rule that you can not get out of your vehicle for obvious reasons. There could have been another tiger in the jungle directly behind them. If these men were attacked and possibly killed who would they blame. The headlines would read "Tiger kills man at Tadoba Andhari Reserve" not "Idiot tourist puts himself in the path of a wild tiger". Luckily nothing happened but it makes you wonder sometimes what people are thinking.

A stroll by the Lake

This picture is proof that the best vehicle to enter the reserve in is an open air gypsy. Many tourists entered in these trucks which would make it very difficult to see tigers. Funny, I thought that's why we were there? Paul and I are so glad we chose to spend the money to ride a gypsy. I also think that these tourists preferred to be in the comfort of an air conditioned vehicle. Now, because of poor sight lines they made the decision to exit the vehicle and could have paid with their life.

Lucky tiger sighting

This is how close these men were to this tiger. The other tigers could have come out of the bushes to the left while these fools were out of their vehicle on the road. Not too smart if you ask me.
